A Quick Spring Trip to Charleston, South Carolina

We traveled to Charleston, South Carolina in the spring of 2019. We've been contemplating about moving to the south, as we're starting to get tired of the cold Maryland winters. My husband suggested that we check out Charleston (it's one of five cities we're looking into possibly moving), since his company has a branch there he can transfer to. This was a quick three-day trip to scout the area and see if it is possible to move there.

So aside from looking at houses, we managed to squeeze in a little bit of sightseeing.

At the top of our list is the Angel Oak Tree. This tree is believed to be one of the oldest living oak trees east of the Mississippi River. It stands at 65 ft, 28 ft in circumference, and it's branches cover an area of 17,000 square feet. It offers so much shade and beauty.






We researched places to eat barbecue and Lewis Barbecue came out several times. We decided to stop by for lunch. We bought think their brisket here is the bomb.



The only tea plantation in North America -  Charleston Tea Plantation. Can you believe that? We took a trolley tour of the plantation and we saw rows and rows of tea bushes.




Fried chicken at Martha Lou's Kitchen is really good. Don't let the little pink building fool you.

As of now, we haven't decided if we'll move to Charleston yet. We still have to visit the other four cities we have on our list. Also, we'll wait until this COVID-19 thing will calm down. We have some time to decide.

  3. I can't see half of the photos, perhaps they will show up later at another time. I did see the plate of ribs. And it makes me hungry. I have been trying very hard to keep my diet of low card and low cal even in quarantine. Hope I come out of this a little thinner in the middle.

    1. Keep up with the low carb diet. I tend to cook more while at home, so I try to just work out more.

      Some of my photos are gone. I'm going to try and reload some of them. It's frustrating.

    2. I'm glad I came back to respond to something you wrote on my blog because I get to see this magnificent tree. Now I want to go there :)

      The tomate de arbol is like a combination of passion fruit and tomato, tough to describe but mild flavors.
